Caffè Musica presents Italian Music Night with singer-songwriter Lorenzo Gatto, 7:00-9:00p, Saturday, February 10, no cover: We are pleased to welcome Lorenzo Gatto who is prepared to serenade you in his native Italian language. He presents a mix of original and contemporary Italian music on guitar and piano.
Lorenzo Gatto started playing piano when he was nine-years-old. Inspired by some Italian songwriters of the day, he started writing original songs when he was 18-years-old. For the next 15 years Lorenzo was also influenced by American folksingers and rock legends.
In 2006, he founded the group Carmine Burana with cohorts Claudio Gori and Carmine Peluso. The band played concerts in music clubs and pubs, and at public events in Italy. They released their first EP, Pezz 2009, in February 2009. After 2011, Lorenzo began a solo career. He has collaborated with many artists, such as Marco Fontana, Antonio Piccolo, Ludovica Iovino, Francesco Cofone, Francesco Magnante, Fabrizio Mocata and others.
Lorenzo has also explored electronic music - teatro-canzone. His new work entitled - Lorenzo Gatto Show is a journey through the history of Italian pop music from the 60’s until present and includes of mix original songs. Themes include recent Italian history from the epic migrations to modernity; the pop music has not only the natural continuation of a millenary tradition (from the ancient Greeks, through the traditional poetry until the opera), but also the mirror of the impact of modern times on Italian culture. This is Lorenzo's first presentation of this set of music outside of Italy.
