Caffè Musica presents Surf The Pines (acoustic duo), Saturday, October 21st, 2017, 7:00 - 9:00pm, $5.00 cover: The musical journey behind Surf The Pines began in Ireland, when Shane Leinster flipped a coin to decide whether he’d move to Los Angeles or New York City to find a more supportive music scene.
Even though Los Angeles won the toss, and Leinster lived and played music there for seven years, it’s in his now-native Seattle that he’s found his true musical home. Brand new four-piece indie rock group Surf The Pines (featuring Leinster, Bill Ibsen, Bardi Martin, and Patrick Porter) is pushing hard, delivering energetic, raw pop-rock with moments of acoustic guitar Americana, derived from lengthy musical careers.
With American rock roots paying homage to Petty, Westerberg, Mould and Chilton, the music of Surf The Pines always begins on Shane’s acoustic guitar. With subject matter that often explores the complexities of relationships, Surf The Pines sound equally as powerful whether as a full band or performing unplugged.
For acoustic shows Patrick Porter accompanies Shane on Acoustic guitar and backing vocals. Porter has played in many Seattle bands on guitar, bass and pedal steel. He fronts his own band Explone, and has recorded and performed with Ken Stringfellow, Joran/Crystal Radio, Red Jacket Mine, The Bourbonites, Andrew Norsworthy, Andrea Maxand, Kirby Krackle and many more.
